Praise for Kathleen after her final parade

ST PATRICK’S DAY ‘FULL OF VIBRANCY AND COLOUR’

-

FOLLOWING the final St. Patrick's Day Parade to take place under Greystones Town Council, Cllr Kathleen Kelleher received much praise from her fellow councillors for her involvement.

A review of this year's parade took place at the March town council meeting last week, and all the councillors present agreed that it had been a tremendous success and one that they hope will continue under the forthcoming municipal authority.

‘Once again, the parade was full of colour and vibrancy,' said Cllr Kathleen Kelleher. ‘A big thank you to everyone who helped out.'

Cllr Kelleher – who chaired the organising committee for the parade – received much acclaim from her fellow councillors for her involvement over the last number of years.

‘ This is the last parade for Kathleen and she deserves a special word of thank you,' said Cllr Grainne McLoughlin.

‘Since it started in 1985, the parade has been a fantastic success for the town and Kathleen has put fantastic work into it,' claimed Cllr Chris Maloney, while Cllr Tom Fortune declared it was ‘a great day' and that ‘ Kathleen [Kelleher] had done a great job over the years.'

‘It was a great parade for the town,' said Cllr Derek Mitchell. ‘It's the only time everyone gets out on the street together, and I hope it can be continued.'

‘ The work done in advance [of the parade] is very much appreciated,' said Cllr Billy Norman. ‘It was a credit to the town to see so many people come out. I was honoured and privileged to see it.'

The local Gardaí, fire brigade, sponsors and volunteers also received praise at the meeting for their part in making the parade such a success.

The award ceremony for the parade will take place this Wednesday, April 2.
