Praise for Kathleen af­ter her fi­nal pa­rade

ST PATRICK’S DAY ‘FULL OF VI­BRANCY AND COLOUR’

FOL­LOW­ING the fi­nal St. Patrick's Day Pa­rade to take place un­der Grey­stones Town Coun­cil, Cllr Kathleen Kelle­her re­ceived much praise from her fel­low coun­cil­lors for her in­volve­ment.

A re­view of this year's pa­rade took place at the March town coun­cil meet­ing last week, and all the coun­cil­lors present agreed that it had been a tremen­dous suc­cess and one that they hope will con­tinue un­der the forth­com­ing mu­nic­i­pal author­ity.

‘Once again, the pa­rade was full of colour and vi­brancy,' said Cllr Kathleen Kelle­her. ‘A big thank you to ev­ery­one who helped out.'

Cllr Kelle­her – who chaired the or­gan­is­ing com­mit­tee for the pa­rade – re­ceived much ac­claim from her fel­low coun­cil­lors for her in­volve­ment over the last num­ber of years.

‘ This is the last pa­rade for Kathleen and she de­serves a spe­cial word of thank you,' said Cllr Grainne McLough­lin.

‘Since it started in 1985, the pa­rade has been a fan­tas­tic suc­cess for the town and Kathleen has put fan­tas­tic work into it,' claimed Cllr Chris Maloney, while Cllr Tom For­tune de­clared it was ‘a great day' and that ‘ Kathleen [Kelle­her] had done a great job over the years.'

‘It was a great pa­rade for the town,' said Cllr Derek Mitchell. ‘It's the only time ev­ery­one gets out on the street to­gether, and I hope it can be con­tin­ued.'

‘ The work done in ad­vance [of the pa­rade] is very much ap­pre­ci­ated,' said Cllr Billy Nor­man. ‘It was a credit to the town to see so many people come out. I was hon­oured and priv­i­leged to see it.'

The lo­cal Gar­daí, fire bri­gade, spon­sors and vol­un­teers also re­ceived praise at the meet­ing for their part in mak­ing the pa­rade such a suc­cess.

The award cer­e­mony for the pa­rade will take place this Wed­nes­day, April 2.
