Edward Timmins

BALTINGLASS

Bray People - - COMMENT -

EDWARD TIMMINS was born and raised in Baltinglass. He works as a Finance Director for a manufacturing company in Blessington. This company employs between one hundred and one hundred and fifty people and is one of the largest employers in West and South-West Wicklow. This role gives him an insight into the issues facing businesses and employees in County Wicklow.

Married with a young daughter he lives in Grange Con and is a son of the late Godfrey Timmins. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and an Engineering Graduate of Trinity College Dublin. Having worked and studied in France, Switzerland and Germany for a number of years he is proficient in French and German. He attended secondary school in Baltinglass. He was elected to Wicklow County Council in 2004.

He is a member of the Planning Policy Committee and the Audit Committee of Wicklow County Council. He is also a member of the Wicklow-Kildare VEC and the Chairman of the Wicklow-Kildare VEC Audit committee.

His main areas of concern are reducing the Councils waste of public money and improving efficiencies, increasing employment in West and South West Wicklow, and rural planning.

‘Proper use of public money will allow funding to be spent where it is needed, for example on the rural roads. I also want to see the new Council District of West and South West Wicklow have more power and independence. I am confident that this will be achieved. I also wish to see a greater presence of Wicklow County Council in West and South West Wicklow.

Recent projects which have improved this area of Wicklow include the Dunlavin Sewage Scheme, the improvement of the street surface in Blessington and Baltinglass, the flood relief works in the Slaney, the Russborough Walk, the extension of Baltinglass hospital, and the development of playgrounds in Dunlavin and Grange Con. Other new projects are also in the pipeline. I oppose the current Pylon project of which Wicklow is one of the possible routes and have taken action at Council level to prevent this.

I am available to help you in any way possible and would appreciate your support in the upcoming local elections.’’ Tel. 087 2357914
