Hi-Rez Youth Cen­tre: It is with great sad­ness that we have to an­nounce that Der­mot O'Brien, our Youth De­vel­op­ment Offi- cer, is leav­ing us af­ter 5 and a half years of ex­cel­lent ser­vice. It in Holy Redeemer Par­ish that Der­mot was first in­spired to be­come in­volved in work­ing with young people.

Since his ar­rival, he took on the chal­lenge of man­ag­ing and de­vel­op­ing our par­ish youth cen­tre, Hi-Rez, an achieve­ment he can rightly re­flect on with a deep sense of pride. Over these years, Der­mot has de­vel­oped re­la­tion­ships with our young people and has shared the won­der­ful pos­i­tiv­ity they have all brought to Hi-Rez since it's be­gin­ning. Un­der his lead­er­ship, our par­ish youth cen­tre and our young people have rightly re­ceived many ac­co­lades from near and far.

Der­mot will be with us un­til April 20th and will con­tinue his in­volve­ment with Celtic Youth in the Lit­tle Flower Hall. We would like to take this op­por­tu­nity to wish Der­mot ev­ery bless­ing and suc­cess in his fu­ture en­deav­ors and to sincerely thank him for his achieve­ments and ded­i­ca­tion to Hi-Rez Youth Cen­tre. Last swim­ming pool night for the Queen of Peace Ad­ven­ture Youth Club mem­bers was en­joyed by 48 boys and girls. Next ses­sions will be­gin in Novem­ber. April events will in­clude of­fi­cers train­ing weekend, Dar­gle Val­ley night walk, girls beau­ti­cian evening, and boys camp out night. Club boathouse on the seafront will be dec­o­rated within the next few weeks be­fore the weekly wa­ter sports be­gin. New lead­ers are re­quired. Bray Divers have or­gan­ised the first pool train­ing class for four Se­nior Snorkel­ers, eleven Ju­nior Snorkel­ers, and the sec­ond class for five Snorkel Guides. Last Mon­day night Brian White, Chair­man of the Bray Cualann His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety, the lo­cal his­tory so­ci­ety for Bray and North Wick­low, was the guest speaker for the March 8pm meet­ing of Chair­man the Clon­dalkin His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety in Aras Cron­ain, Waterly Lane, Clon­dalkin, at which pre­sented his lec­ture on ‘ The Sham­rock Fund of WW1', an out­line of which was pub­lished in this paper last week.

Mem­bers of the Bray Cualann His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety have been to at­tend this Satur­day's Dublin City Li­brary and Ar­chive Fam­ily His­tory which runs from 10am to 4pm cov­er­ing a va­ri­ety of ge­nealog­i­cal sub­jects.

Mem­bers also have in­vited to at­tend tonight's (Wed­nes­day) 8pm meet­ing of the Rathmichael His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety in Rathmichael School, Stone­bridge Road, Shankill, at which Pa­tri­cia But­ler will present her lec­ture ' Wick­low Through the Artist's Eye '.

Dur­ing April the Bray Cualann His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety will hold two events - On Wed­nes­day April 16th James Scan­nell will present a lec­ture re­call­ing ' Easter in Bray 100 Years Ago (1914) ' in Bray Li­brary, Eglin­ton Road, at 11.30am. Ad­mis­sion free.
