Cor­ner House Golf So­ci­ety

The Cor­ner House Golf So­ci­ety kicked off their new sea­son with our new cap­tain, Wil­lie Walker, tee­ing off first at Glen­mill Golf Club last Sun­day, March 30.

A great turn on the day with 23 play­ers turn­ing up in good golf­ing con­di­tions. The win­ners were as fol­lows, over­all win­ner on the day with 34 was Jim Nolan.

Win­ner of class 1 was Martin Ri­ley with 32 points, win­ner of class 2 was Liam Hyland with 26 points and win­ner of class 3 with 24 points was Kevin O'Reilly.

The So­ci­ety would like to thank Pat Long and Avril for the re­fresh­ments that were forth­com­ing af­ter­wards in the Cor­ner House. Our next out­ing will take place on April 20 in Black­wa­ter, tee off at 10am. New mem­bers wel­come .

Bridge Ho­tel Golf So­ci­ety

Last week's com­pe­ti­tion was held at Black­wa­ter Golf Club.

First net was won by Jim Hoey with 38 points. Class 1: Roy Braud­ers with 29 points; Class 2: Paul Sheedy with 36 points; Front nine: Paul Hoey 16 points; Back nine: To­mas Halpin 17 points; Near­est the pin: Ste­wart Case.

Next Satur­day's com­pe­ti­tion will be held in Ark­low Golf Club- tee off 9.30am

Ladies Mermaid Ring - The Mermaid Ring com­pe­ti­tion will com­mence on Wed­nes­day, April 2 un­til Wed­nes­day, Septem­ber 24. The en­try fee is €5. Please en­ter your name on the sheet in the ladies locker room and play your golf. The com­puter will do the rest for you.

Ladies 18-Hole com­pe­ti­tions will com­mence on Wed­nes­day, April 2 (sub­ject to course con­di­tions).

Re­minder - 'Spring into Sum­mer' Fash­ion Show takes place this Fri­day, April 4 at 7.30pm in the club­house.

The Easter League con­cluded this weekend with yet an­other great en­try for this very pop­u­lar com­pe­ti­tion. Thank you to all who sup­ported the league!

Tom Fox and Ge­orge Bradley had the scores of the weekend with 31pts each.

Cat­e­gory 1 - 1st: Ned Cremin (12) 30pts; 2nd: David Whelan (7) 28pts

Cat­e­gory 2 - 1st: Ge­orge Bradley (15) 31pts; 2nd: John Walsh (18) 29pts

Cat­e­gory 3 - 1st: Tom Fox (19) 31pts; 2nd: Gerry Fo­ley (18) 30pts.

Michael O'Neill won cat­e­gory 1 with an­other con­sis­tent round while David Whelan's score of 28pts this weekend jumped him deven places to fin­ish sec­ond, with Peter Byrne im­prov­ing his to­tal by two points to hang onto third place.

Si­mon Palmer won cat­e­gory 2 and was closely fol­lowed by Larry Daly and Club Cap­tain Sean O'Con­nor.

Ed­die Hil­lan romped home in Cat­e­gory 3 with Tom Fox jump­ing from fourth to sec­ond in his cat­e­gory to clinch a play­off place, and Frank O'Neill im­proved his score by five points to sneak into the play­off. The top 3 in each cat­e­gory are as fol­lows: Cat­e­gory 1: Michael O'Neill 120pts, David Whelan 118pts, Peter Byrne 117pts.

Cat­e­gory 2: Si­mon Palmer 116pts, Larry Daly 114pts, Sean O'Con­nor 113pts.

Cat­e­gory 3 Ed­die Hil­lan 125pts, Tom Fox 121pts, Frank O'Neill 119pts.

Rather than hav­ing an or­ga­nized play­off as was stip­u­lated in the Easter League for­mat, the Men's Sec­tion com­mit­tee have de­cided the over­all win­ner of the Easter League will be de­cided with the card the top three in each cat­e­gory (as above) post in next week­ends com­pe­ti­tion.

Please note pre­vi­ous scores in the qual­i­fy­ing rounds will not count; it will be de­cided by the best card posted next weekend among the nine qual­i­fiers!

To date in the first six months we have had one jack­pot win­ner of €9,800 and sev­eral match three win­ners of up to €150.

All funds raised go to­wards main­te­nance and course de­vel­op­ment.

The next six months of weekly lotto draws is now be­gin­ning and your con­tin­ued sup­port would be greatly ap­pre­ci­ated.

For the con­ve­nience of mem­bers and club ad­min­is­tra­tion the six month lotto ticket of €50 is now avail­able from the club of­fice. Thank­ing you in an­tic­i­pa­tion for your sup­port.

3 Clubs for 1 Sub - The com­mit­tee in Balt­in­glass Golf Club is very happy to an­nounce de­tails of an al­liance with Cal­lan and Ro­screa Golf Clubs.

This will give mem­bers in the three clubs a range of mu­tu­ally ben­e­fi­cial play­ing op­tions such as giv­ing play­ing rights to al­liance mem­bers, of­fer­ing the same en­try fees for open com­pe­ti­tions to al­liance mem­bers as or­di­nary club mem­bers and there will be a tri­an­gu­lar tour­na­ment be­tween the three clubs hosted in each of the three clubs once ev­ery three years.

An­other ob­jec­tive would be that we all could learn from past achieve­ments and mis­takes.
