Thatcher and the IRA: Dealing with Terror, BBC1, Thursday 9pm

This BBC documentary will examine former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s dealings with the IRA which includes the hunger strikes during the early 1980s. A strong opponent of the Republican organisation she always spoke out strongly against them and was herself the target of one of their most infamous attacks when they bombed the Brighton hotel in which she was staying during a Conservative Party Conference, killing a number of people, yet it was the Iron Lady herself who started negotiations with them in secret.
