Schoolchildren in super soccer blitz
WOLFE TONE CLUB HOSTS FOURTEEN TEAMS
CHILDREN from primary schools from Bray took part in a soccer blitz at Wolfe Tone Soccer Club recently.
Fourteen teams from the five schools involved had completed soccer training sessions as part of the Bray Sports Promotion Unit’s multisports schools programme.
Coaches went to the five schools to carry out training sessions with the blitz then held for the schools to compete against each other.
The schools which took part on the day were St. Fergal’s senior school, Bray School Project, St. Philomena’s, St. Kieran’s and St. Peter’s.
Seven boys and seven girls teams completed games against each other with over 90 students in attendance on the day.
‘All games were played in great spirit and credit must go to the students, FAI, Wolfe Tone Soccer Club and John Scanlon for helping with refereeing,’ said Conor Britton, Assistant Sports Promotion Officer with the Kildare Wicklow Education and Training Board.
