Thieves smash door of church

CONSIDERABLE damage was caused when thieves smashed their way into Tomacork Church near Carnew on Saturday night week last.

They smashed the vestry door to bits to enter the Church. However, nothing was taken.

This was the second incident at Tomacork Church in recent months. A donation box containing about £60 in cash was stolen from the vestry on a previous occasion but no damage was caused as the Church was open at the time.

Following Garda investigations five youths from the area were questioned in connection with the two incidents at Tomacork Church and several other recent break-ins in the area and the Gardai are now satisfied that the crimes have been solved.
