Thieves smash door of church

CON­SID­ER­ABLE dam­age was caused when thieves smashed their way into To­ma­cork Church near Carnew on Satur­day night week last.

They smashed the vestry door to bits to en­ter the Church. How­ever, noth­ing was taken.

This was the sec­ond in­ci­dent at To­ma­cork Church in re­cent months. A do­na­tion box con­tain­ing about £60 in cash was stolen from the vestry on a pre­vi­ous oc­ca­sion but no dam­age was caused as the Church was open at the time.

Fol­low­ing Garda in­ves­ti­ga­tions five youths from the area were ques­tioned in con­nec­tion with the two in­ci­dents at To­ma­cork Church and sev­eral other re­cent break-ins in the area and the Gar­dai are now sat­is­fied that the crimes have been solved.
