Free tests for Hear­ing week

AS PART of Hear­ing Aware­ness Week, the Hid­den Hear­ing clinic in Bray will host ‘Walk-in Wed­nes­day’ to­day, April 9.

They will of­fer a free drop in ser­vice where mem­bers of the pub­lic can call in to talk to Hid­den Hear­ing’s qual­i­fied au­di­ol­o­gists or avail of a free hear­ing screen­ing and a trial of the lat­est in­vis­i­ble hear­ing aids.

Hid­den Hear­ing will also be of­fer­ing 20 per cent off on the day.

A sur­vey they car­ried out found that al­most a quar­ter of people un­der 25 in Ire­land (24 per cent) are putting their hear­ing at risk by lis­ten­ing to mu­sic at lev­els that cause long term harm.

The aver­age noise level on de­vices was 75 deci­bels and people said they lis­tened to mu­sic for over two hours per day.

Con­ducted by Be­hav­iour and At­ti­tudes, the sur­vey was car­ried out for Hear­ing Aware­ness Week, which is run­ning un­til this Fri­day.
