BRAINBUSTERS
A GROUP of 12 Bray Cancer Support Centre supporters will take on the Camino Walk in Northern Spain this year and held a quiz to raise funds.
It was a great night of entertainment at Bray Golf Club, including a raffle and DJ as well as the quiz itself.
They raised around €3,000 on the night and have a range of activities planned in the coming months including a cake sale at the Holy Redeemer on June 8 and a holistic day at the Martello on August 9. Local woman Serena Kilkenny and a group of walkers who are all family and friends will take on the challenge in September and expect to arrive in Santiago with 120km under their sore feet. They decided to form their own group to do the trek so that they could raise as much money as possible for the charity.
‘Bray Cancer Support is a very worthy cause and close to mine and my family’s heart,’ said Serena. ‘All those involved in this event have been in some way affected by cancer, and supported by the Bray Cancer Support Centre.’
You can still support them by finding ‘Bray the Camino Way’ on mycharity.ie and making a donation. A Facebook page has also been set up to keep everyone informed of their progress and events.
