Michael 'Psychy' O'Neill clinched the Easter League title with a fantastic round of 44pts in the play off final over the weekend.

Well done Michael, this years league was very tight and the play off added an extra dimension to it. Thanks to every one who supported the League!

Michael Howard won the Gun Club Trophy, the longest played competitio­n in the Club, this weekend with a very consistent round of 4 up. Joe Fagan and Conor Manning with scores of three up finished second and third respective­ly.

Survey Results - The Men's Section Committee held a two question survey last weekend.

The two questions were - For the Easter League we experiment­ed by starting on the 17th tee-box.

Which hole would you prefer to start on for all future competitio­ns? 1st or 17th - 1st 55% 17th 45%

To facilitate members who are unable to play on a Saturday or Sunday in the Easter League, players were allowed play in the competitio­n on a Friday.

Going forward do you agree this should continue for future competitio­ns? Yes or No? Yes: 94%, No: 6 %

Club Match play's - The entry sheets have been posted on the notice board in the men's locker room.

The Mitchell Cup, the club singles match play, has been played for since 1938. The cup was donated to the club by one of our founding members Col. C.C. Mitchell.

Last year's winners of 'The Jarlath Hughes Memorial Cup', the club four ball, Stephen Greene and Brian O'Hara, will prove to be very tough opposition for any pair who are drawn against them, as they will be trying their very best to retain their crown this year.

As most of the inter club competitio­ns run by the G.U.I. are foursomes competitio­ns, the Club Scotch Foursomes will run alongside the singles and four ball competitio­ns.

Tom O'Neill PGA Profession­al - Junior coaching continues every Saturday. Tom is also running an Easter Camp over three days at a cost of €50. For further details contact Tom on 087 7622125.

A big thank you to all those involved in the “Spring into Summer” Fashion Show which was held last Friday, April 4.

It was a fabulous evening of fashion and fun. Many thanks to the organisers who put in such hard work to get the show off the ground and also to all those who attended or supported the show in any way. Thanks also go to all the shops who took part and to all the models who did such a wonderful job on the night.

Upcoming Open - Seniors Ladies and Gents Open Singles, Tuesday, April 22.

Golf Lessons for Girls: These lessons are for girls aged between 10 and 18 years.

They are available to members and non-members and to girls with or without previous golf experience.

The lessons will commence on Tuesday, April 29 and finish on Thursday, May 29. They will be held twice weekly on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6.00p.m. over five weeks.

The cost for the 10 lessons is €10 in total. Please contact Ann Reilly on 087-2819909 for further details.
