-

NEWCOURT School student Aisling Kelly (12) received a runner-up award at the Riding for the Disabled Association Ireland (RDAI) National Awards.

Aisling is from Arklow and she goes to school in Bray. She does her riding every second Friday at the Festina Lente equestrian centre on Old Connaught Road.

She was presented with her award at the association’s Annual General Meeting and National Conference in the RDS in Dublin last week.

The Rider of the Year Award is presented to highlight the progress, increased ability and confidence that members gain through the fun activity of horse riding.

‘Aisling is absolutely horse mad,’ said her mother Gillian, who said that she has been proudly showing off her award to everyone.

The Arklow girl has one sister, Saoirse (11), and a brother Darren who is five.
