Ger­ard’s pip Pres in de­bat­ing fi­nal

ST. GER­ARD’S School de­feated Pre­sen­ta­tion Col­lege Bray on a split de­ci­sion in the fi­nal of the Bray Lions Schools De­bat­ing Com­pe­ti­tion for the Pat Cas­sidy Me­mo­rial Tro­phy which was held in the Martello last Tues­day evening.

St. Ger­ard’s pro­posed the mo­tion ‘ The Ir­ish pub­lic have full con­fi­dence in how our Dail op­er­ates.’

The chair­per­son of the judges, John Smith, Bray Toast­mas­ters, con­grat­u­lated both teams on the stan­dard of their speeches in­clud­ing the use of some mem­o­rable com­ments, their ex­cel­lent de­bat­ing skills and they made the judges’ task of pick­ing a win­ner an ex­tremely dif­fi­cult de­ci­sion.

Robert Mac Clancy, Bray Lions Club Con­venor, thanked Co­laiste Raithin, Loreto, St. Brendan’s, St. David’s, St. Kil­ian’s, this year’s fi­nal­ists and their men­tors for par­tic­i­pat­ing in a very en­joy­able se­ries of de­bates over the past few months.

He also thanked Ed­die Dun­phy, Kathleen Kelle­her and John Smith from the Bray Toast­mas­ters for act­ing as judges at all the de­bates.
