Cu­mann na Mara girls ex­cel at Bal­li­nakill Feile

CU­MANN NA MARA un­der-14 girls team en­joyed great suc­cess at the Wick­low Feile 2014 held at Ballinkill School of Ex­cel­lence on Satur­day last.

Com­pet­ing in the Feile sec­tion for smaller clubs, Cu­mann na Mara emerged tri­umphant with vic­to­ries over New­town, Bar­rindar­rig, and Carnew.

Play­ing an open brand of foot­ball the play­ers com­bined very well and sup­ported each other through­out the tour­na­ment.

The prin­ci­pal scorer was Grace Hur­ley and she was ably sup­ported by Eve Rogers and Anna Shee­han.

The Arm­strong sis­ters Zoe and Rachel worked very hard at mid­field and pro­vided a great sup­ply of ball into the for­wards.

The backs, Grace Mar­shall, Ellen McGrath, Caoimhe Gav­i­gan, Ni­amh Ka­vanagh, Rachel Bent­ley, and Anna Keat­ing re­mained strong and stead­fast through­out the com­pe­ti­tion and sup­ported the goal­keeper Ni­amh Byrne who only con­ceded one goal through­out the game.

Su­per­sub Martha Ka­vanagh was un­able to play on the day due to an in­jury the day be­fore. The team all wish her well in her re­cov­ery.

Cap­tain Eve Hur­ley was de­lighted to re­ceive the cup on be­half of the team and thanked all the teams for a very sport­ing oc­ca­sion, her fel­low play­ers and men­tors and sup­port­ers.
