Cumann na Mara girls excel at Ballinakill Feile

-

CUMANN NA MARA under-14 girls team enjoyed great success at the Wicklow Feile 2014 held at Ballinkill School of Excellence on Saturday last.

Competing in the Feile section for smaller clubs, Cumann na Mara emerged triumphant with victories over Newtown, Barrindarrig, and Carnew.

Playing an open brand of football the players combined very well and supported each other throughout the tournament.

The principal scorer was Grace Hurley and she was ably supported by Eve Rogers and Anna Sheehan.

The Armstrong sisters Zoe and Rachel worked very hard at midfield and provided a great supply of ball into the forwards.

The backs, Grace Marshall, Ellen McGrath, Caoimhe Gavigan, Niamh Kavanagh, Rachel Bentley, and Anna Keating remained strong and steadfast throughout the competition and supported the goalkeeper Niamh Byrne who only conceded one goal throughout the game.

Supersub Martha Kavanagh was unable to play on the day due to an injury the day before. The team all wish her well in her recovery.

Captain Eve Hurley was delighted to receive the cup on behalf of the team and thanked all the teams for a very sporting occasion, her fellow players and mentors and supporters.

Team: Rachel Armstrong, Zoe Armstrong, Grace Hurley, Eve Rogers, Caoimhe Gavigan, Niamh Kavanagh, Martha Kavanagh, Rachel Bentley, Anna Keating, Anna Sheehan, Grace Marshall, Ellen McGrath.
