Future is very bright as Wicklow U-12s bid farewell to minis rugby

-

LAST WEEKEND Wicklow RFC U-12s travelled to Munster with a squad of 30 players, coaches and parents to mark their transition from minis rugby to youths.

They stayed in Trabolgan for two nights. The parents and coaches had put a big effort in over the year to fundraise for the tour.

They played Midleton RFC and representative sides, Chepstow from Wales and Battersea from England.

Over the course of two days a huge amount of tough free flowing rugby was played with Wicklow showing off their competitive skills, particularly against some of the bigger teams.

The end of the tour saw them take to the full size pitch in a 15-a-side match in a highly entertaining game against Midleton closely fought but narrowing losing out by one score.

The future is bright for this group of kids as they prepare for the move up to the youth section next year, already with an eye on future silverware. As always new players welcome; contact U-12s coach Alan Long on 086 8502030.
