Where are the buyers coming from? We have always had the first time buyer, looking for their own home, to put down their roots. However recently, that very elusive character, the investor, has re-appeared. Not a figure with horns, more somebody like your neighbour who has savings, and feels that buying a 3 bed in a modern development at the right price, will give a good return on their lump sum. They generally get a good rental income, and now that the bottom is a thing of the past, a little capital appreciation. It has been very tricky to trade up over the past seven years, mortgages became increasingly difficult, and having the confidence to make the move took a lot of courage, such was the negativity. Again, this sector of the market is more active, young families squeezed into a home which is just too small for the growing family, are now looking positively at their options, and making the move.
