Five festivals to receive funds from Failte Ireland

FIVE FESTIVALS in County Wicklow are to receive funding from Failte Ireland.

Wicklow Arts Festival; the Aughrim music and arts festival ‘Craic in the Granite’; the Groove Festival at Killruddery, Bray; Gourmet Greystones and Wicklow Sailing Club for the Round Ireland Yacht Race will all receive grants.

This is part of a package of over half a million for festivals around the country.

Deputy Anne Ferris said that the five events that have been funded around Wicklow involve activities that will attract visitors from all over Ireland and abroad as well as from local communities.

‘ This type of funding is about incentivising local groups to grow tourism within their own communities,’ said Deputy Ferris.

‘ Employment across the entire hospitality sector benefits, from hotels to restaurants and pubs.

‘ Irish festivals are about mixing local economic growth with good old fashioned Irish fun.’
