Clean-ups continue across the county

THERE WILL be a number of clean ups across Wicklow as National Spring Clean month draws to a close.

Yesterday ( Tuesday) the residents of the Simon Community Homeless Facility in Wicklow held a clean up in the town.

The group currently operates a daily clean- up on the adjacent streets but plan to expand this throughout the town as part of their National Spring Clean event.

On Saturday there will be a cleanup at 11.30am in the Holywell Estate, Kilcoole, organised by the Holywell Residents' Association. All are welcome to participate

On Sunday, the Kindlestown Woods Green Communities Group of Greystones will be holding a clean-up of the pathway and small woodland area behind the local primary school with a group of up to twenty participants

The National Spring Clean runs throughout April each year, with thousands of clean-up events taking place across the country and with just two weeks to go, An Taisce is urging people nationwide to sign up and show how much they love where they live.

To celebrate this year's campaign, An Taisce is also hosting a photo competition on Instagram. Entrants are asked to share images of the most beautiful spots in their local areas tagging National Spring Clean and using the hashtag #LoveWhereYouLive.

The best pictures will be posted to the campaign's Facebook page and the winner will receive a relaxing break in the Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel.
