Clean-ups con­tinue across the county

THERE WILL be a num­ber of clean ups across Wick­low as Na­tional Spring Clean month draws to a close.

Yes­ter­day ( Tues­day) the res­i­dents of the Si­mon Com­mu­nity Home­less Fa­cil­ity in Wick­low held a clean up in the town.

The group cur­rently op­er­ates a daily clean- up on the ad­ja­cent streets but plan to ex­pand this through­out the town as part of their Na­tional Spring Clean event.

On Satur­day there will be a cleanup at 11.30am in the Holy­well Es­tate, Kil­coole, or­gan­ised by the Holy­well Res­i­dents' As­so­ci­a­tion. All are wel­come to par­tic­i­pate

On Sun­day, the Kindlestown Woods Green Com­mu­ni­ties Group of Grey­stones will be hold­ing a clean-up of the path­way and small wood­land area be­hind the lo­cal pri­mary school with a group of up to twenty par­tic­i­pants

The Na­tional Spring Clean runs through­out April each year, with thou­sands of clean-up events tak­ing place across the coun­try and with just two weeks to go, An Taisce is urg­ing people na­tion­wide to sign up and show how much they love where they live.

To cel­e­brate this year's cam­paign, An Taisce is also host­ing a photo com­pe­ti­tion on In­sta­gram. En­trants are asked to share im­ages of the most beau­ti­ful spots in their lo­cal ar­eas tag­ging Na­tional Spring Clean and us­ing the hash­tag #LoveWhereYouLive.

The best pic­tures will be posted to the cam­paign's Face­book page and the win­ner will re­ceive a re­lax­ing break in the Kilkenny Or­monde Ho­tel.
