SINGER Emma Nicolai will take on the work of Nina Simone at the Hot Spot Cafe in Greystones on Saturday May 3.

With her debut solo album and tour due for release later this year, Wicklow singer/songwriter Emma Nicolai will be stepping out with a special celebration of Nina Simone, the North Carolina legend who gave us such hits as My Baby Just Cares For Me, I Love You Porgy and Feeling Good.

With a band that includes Fountainhead and Helium Dog guitarist Steve Belton, double-bassist Cormac O'Brien, pianist Niall Woods and percussionist Pablo Buerno, Nicolai will also be showcasing some songs from her upcoming debut album during the show's interval.

Regarded by many as the shining light of The Universal Funk Orchestra, Nicolai's reputation has been growing steadily over the last 12 months.
