New­town are the champs!

NEW­TOWN UNITED were crowned cham­pi­ons of the Youth De­vel­op­ment League on Satur­day af­ter a 2-0 vic­tory over St. Anthony’s.

Dar­ragh Carthy and Ciaran Daly bagged the goals that se­cured the ti­tle for the young Mag­pies.

United have re­mained un­beaten through­out the sea­son, drop­ping just two points on their way to the ti­tle.

Luke Martin was the top goalscorer for United, who scored 25 goals in their six games. United’s record shows five vic­to­ries and one draw, but they had also in­flicted de­feats on Ark­low United and Cool­boy Rangers be­fore the duo pulled out of the league.

They will now turn their at­ten­tion to the Youth Cup fi­nal this Sun­day. They face Glen­view FC in Sham­rock Park, Rath­new. Kick-off is 11am.
