Newtown are the champs!

NEWTOWN UNITED were crowned champions of the Youth Developmen­t League on Saturday after a 2-0 victory over St. Anthony’s.

Darragh Carthy and Ciaran Daly bagged the goals that secured the title for the young Magpies.

United have remained unbeaten throughout the season, dropping just two points on their way to the title.

Luke Martin was the top goalscorer for United, who scored 25 goals in their six games. United’s record shows five victories and one draw, but they had also inflicted defeats on Arklow United and Coolboy Rangers before the duo pulled out of the league.

They will now turn their attention to the Youth Cup final this Sunday. They face Glenview FC in Shamrock Park, Rathnew. Kick-off is 11am.
