No show by Avonmore

THERE WAS a no-show from Avonmore FC on Saturday as they were scheduled to take on Rathnew AFC in the Under 17 Cup semi-final.

It is believed the home side had requested to switch the game to either Easter Monday or Wednesday, April 23, due to a number of squad members being involved in a county Minor G.A.A. match, but the Wicklow League turned down both dates and instructed Avonmore to field a team and fulfil the fixture.

Rathnew and the match officials arrived at Ballygannon Park but there was no sign of Avonmore FC at the venue.

The visitors returned home and celebrated making it to the final against Wicklow Rovers, pencilled in to take place on Saturday in Avoca in what should be a cracker of a game.

It is expected that Avonmore FC will make an appeal to the WDFL concerning this matter.
