St. Pat’s heap league misery on Kiltegan

ST. PATRICK’S KILTEGAN 4-15 2-05

KILTEGAN'S trail of misery in Div I continued when they paid their first visit to Dunbur Park this year to take on St. Patrick's on Friday evening.

While they had their two county players, Rory Finn and Seanie Furlong, back for the first time this year it was not enough to stop the rot.

After St Pat's woeful display in Baltinglass last time out there was always going to be a backlash and Kiltegan took the full force of that.

The St. Pat's trainer Gavin Wynne must have had mixed feelings as he approached this match.

He just had to motivate his new charges and get them motoring again after that one slip up but at the same time he must have regretted that it was his own club that was on the receiving end.

The Town side were back to near full strength for this match and hit the ground running.

Early goals by Brian Coen, Paudge McWalter and Jonathan Delahunt sent them on their way and by half time they were leading by 3-6 to 2-3.

Seanie Furlong had Kiltegan's first goal but he had received an eye injury by the time his side won a penalty and was unable to take the kick. However, the other county player, Rory Finn, took over and blasted to the back of Davey Byrne's net. Kiltegan did not have a substitute so Seanie had to continue.

It told in the second half and all Kiltegan managed to add to their total was two more points.

So, Gavin Wynne got a much improved display from his side, he got the result he needed and also managed to repair a score difference that was badly damaged on their visit Slaneyside.
