Lions set for trip to Old Traf­ford!

THE EN­NISKERRY LIONS will be the envy of foot­ball clubs every­where as they em­bark on a once-in-a-life­time foot­ball trip this weekend.

The Lions, a com­bi­na­tion of the En­niskerry U-12, U-13 and U-14 teams – will be head­ing to Eng­land this weekend where they will visit Old Traf­ford, take on Manch­ester City and wit­ness a Pre­mier League match.

For the last five months, these girls have been work­ing tire­lessly to raise funds for this trip and now, af­ter what seems like an eter­nity, it is just two days away.

At 6am on Fri­day morn­ing, they will jet out of Dublin and af­ter touch­ing down in Manch­ester, it will be straight off to the Theatre of Dreams for a guided tour at the home of Manch­ester United.

Next step will be the team’s ho­tel, where they will have to shake off any jet­lag as they take part in a swim­ming pool ses­sion that should en­sure that they’re fight­ing fit for the next day.

On Satur­day morn­ing, they will head to the academy of Manch­ester City to take on the might of Man City, af­ter which they will point their bus in the di­rec­tion of the Bri­tan­nia Sta­dium where they will be flag bear­ers in the tun­nel for the meet­ing of Stoke City and Tot­ten­ham Hot­spurs.

There will be no rest for the wicked though as the next morn­ing they will re­turn to City’s academy to train with their academy side be­fore fi­nally head­ing home later that day.
