Charlie Bishop Cup spots going

FOURTEEN of the Charlie Bishop Cup places have already been snapped up for next season.

Bizarrely, the holders may not be able to defend their crown next season should it be Glencormac United that lift the trophy on Saturday, May 17, as they’re languishin­g in seventh spot in Division 2 and fourth spot is beyond them.

Arklow Town will be hoping that it is them celebratin­g in the Carlisle Grounds on the 17 th of May and they will be back again next season, alongside Rathnew AFC A, Newtown United A and Wicklow Town of the Andy McEvoy Premier 1.

Pat O’Toole Division 2’s representa­tives will be St. Patrick’s, Rathnew AFC B, Celtic Stars and either Seaview Wanderers or Newtown United B.

The Rathnew link continues in Division 3 North, from which the Villagers, Fassaroe YC, Shamrock Celtic and one of Redbank United, Wicklow Town B, Ballywaltr­im FC or St. Fergal’s AFC B will go forward.

Division 3 South’s quarter has already been decided and they are Carnew United, Avonmore FC, Conary United and FC Laragh.

The Charlie Bishop Cup final will be contested by Arklow Town and Glencormac United and will take place at the home of Bray Wanderers - the Carlisle Grounds, on Saturday, May 17.
