Four teams in contention

-

INCREDIBLY, four sides are in contention for the final Charlie Bishop Cup spot in Division 3 North. Fassaroe YC, Rathnew AFC C and Shamrock Celtic have already sewn up the top three, but now Redbank United, Wicklow Town B, Ballywaltrim and St. Fergal’s B will go into their final fixtures gunning for fourth spot.

United picked up an unexpected point on Sunday as they held Shamrock Celtic to a 1-1 draw at Celtic Park. Faoileann Fortune’s effort earned the Moneystown men a share of the spoils to leave them in pole position in the race for the top four.

Ballywaltrim emerged as late contenders courtesy of a 2-0 win over Wicklow Town B at Ballywaltrim Recreational Park. Mark Flangan and Emmett Costello were the marksmen for the Bray club.

Wicklow Town B were also in action in midweek, resulting in a thrilling 3-3 draw with St. Fergal’s AFC B at Finlay Parl.

Alan Delaney, Conor Cox and Eric Conlon notched for the hosts.
