FINE GAEL

Vincent Blake

Water charges is a policy agreed by the previous government during the bailout negotiations. I believe that finance paid for water in Wicklow is invested to improve the quality of water in the County.

Edward Timmins

No. As part of the bailout agreement signed by the previous Government of Fianna Fail, the Greens and Independents, water charges will be brought in. Council Candidates have no say.

Lorcan McMahon

I would prefer if there were no water charges but the introduction of these charges was a deal done with the last government and the Troika. Local councillors have no say in this.

FIANNA FAIL

Pat Doran

No. What about those on disability, the unemployed, pensioners? Existing on €188, the majority paying €30 rent. With no increase in payments and no jobs, there is no way they can pay this.

Joe McCormac

The all new Irish Water is just one more super quango which doesn’t seem to be in control of what its doing. It’s squandering taxpayers’ hard earned money on consultants.

SINN FEIN

Aidan Kinsella

We in Sinn Fein are completely opposed to the introduction of water charges. This is just another tax on the Irish taxpayer, taxes which are set to increase again in 2016

Gerry O’Neill

I condemn water charges. We have already been paying for it since the 80’s with the increase in VAT. This is just another taxation and people don’t have the money for it.

INDEPENDENT

Jillian Godsill

I fundamentally believe we need to man- age our water supplies. However, the water rates in their current form is just another austerity tax and nothing to do with conserving our water. So No!

Jim Ruttle

The set up of Irish water was fundamentally flawed, tax payers money was used to fund a commercial company. In this context I am opposed to Water Rates.

Tommy Cullen

I have always been opposed to water charges. We are already paying through direct taxation for water services. This is just a double taxation.’

Kevin Byrne

I have no problem paying for services, so long as we only have to pay them once. For the past 35 years my PAYE and self employed tax paid for my water, so where is this charge going? Banks, Banks, Banks!

Dominic Plant

It is inevitable that there will be some sort of charge but I don’t think it should be as high has has been set. I also don’t think it should be so strictly enforced.
