Politicians lend their support to Bray
POLITICAL leaders are lending their support to Bray Wanderers’ new initiative to place the club at the heart of the community – praising the club for its inclusive approach to embracing the whole of the county.
Councillor John Ryan and TD Anne Ferris have joined the 300 Club, which was launched last week.
The partnership scheme is aimed at raising €90,000 to help support the new Bray Wanderers Community Football Club (BWCFC) and its plans to develop and improve football and community resources.
Since the launch just one week ago BWCFC have already achieved more than 20% take up of the 300 memberships.
Cllr Ryan, of Fine Gael, recently inspected new buildings at Carlisle Grounds where there are plans to develop a community centre.
Speaking about why she joined, Labour TD Anne Ferris TD has said that she fully supports the inclusive nature of the initiative and was in fact one of the first to join according to a spokesperson for Bray.
The 300 Club will be made up of 300 business leaders, local supporters and members of the wider community, each committing €300 to the club’s redevelopment and improvement programme being initiated by BWCFC. In return they receive a complimentary season ticket, a 10% discount on club merchandise and their name or business listed in all home match programmes and on the club website.
The ultimate goal of BWCFC is to transform Bray Wanderers into a club that is owned and operated by the community it serves.
President Bray Wanderers Philip Hannigan said: “To get such a positive take up of the memberships so soon and receive such endorsements from our politicians is hugely encouraging for the new Bray Wanderers Community Football Club.”
