New books reveals the life stories of Kylemore members and residents
AVID readers gathered at The Bray Head Hotel recently to witness the launch of a beautiful new book.
‘Memories’ is the written record of the life stories of some of the members at Kylemore Day Care Centre and is a fascinating read. Owner of the Nursing home and Day Care Centre, Ruth Behan, took on the task of compiling members’ and residents’ life stories into this beautiful book and she was delighted to finally unveil it to the public at the official launch.
A lovely idea, the book gives people the opportunity to read the real life stories of real people in the local area and it provides the ideal stocking filler this Christmas.
‘It has been a great privilege working with people who have real life stories to tell,’ said Ruth. Many authors have to invent their stories. I would like to sincerely thank all those who helped the book come to fruition, especially local men Joe Bolland and Frank Corr.’
The book is currently on sale and Ruth has decided that all proceeds will go to a local Bray Charity, Open Door, which is a centre for adults with physical and sensory disabilities.
TD Simon Harris was a special guest at the book launch and said ‘It’s wonderful to see people like Ruth Behan taking the initiative and giving back to the community in such a positive way. I wish her ever success with the sale of the book, I think it’s a great Christmas present for anyone young or old.’
‘Memories’ is currently available to buy from Kylemore Nursing Home and Day Care Centre, Open Door, The Village Bookshop in Greystones and Holland’s Bar in Bray.
This is Ruth’s second book after, coming off the back of the success of ‘ Twelve Lives’, which was published back in 2009.
She was delighted with the turnout at the official launch of ‘Memories’ and is hoping that people will support her efforts to raise money for a great cause.
