Bray Senior Citizens enjoy a wonderful Christmas party
BRAY COMMUNITY SENIOR CITIZENS’ PARTY AT ST THOMAS’ COMMUNITY
THE garda band played and the people danced at the Bray Community Senior Citizens’ Party last Sunday afternoon.
The dance floor was full to capacity for the hooley, which included dinner, drinks, a raffle, games and plenty of music and chat.
Philomena Lynott, mother of the late star Phil Lynott, popped in to add to the fun.
‘She joined in and danced away with the girls,’ said local man Shane Rowan who helped fundraise for the project.
The party very nearly never was as funding needed to be raised in the weeks beforehand.
Local woman Mandy O’Connor and Sharon Earls spearheaded a drive to get the money together to hold the annual event.
‘It was a great day put together by all the volunteers,’ said Shane.
‘ Thank you to everyone who helped us to fund this special day.’
Santa made an appearance, and everyone joined in a sing song at St Thomas’ hall at the weekend.
Berry Dance Academy also entertained the guests on the day. Organisers thanked a number of groups, businesses and individuals for their help including the Order of Malta, MT Cabs, Gavin Cassidy and his team in the kitchen, as well as The Esplanade, John Duggan, Lino’s, The Coach, Hollands, Duffs and Goldsmiths, The Ardmore, Jurek at BIFE, John Corcoran and Ciaran Magennety.
