CHRISTMAS STABLES Powerscourt Garden Pavilion Stables 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Adults and children of all ages are welcome to pay a visit the stables, which is free of charge.

LAKESHORE WONDERLAND Avon Ri, Blessington 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission for children (one adult goes free, additional adults pay €5) is €18 and includes a visit to Santa, a gift and hot chocolate and full access to Santa’s Lakeshore Wonderland.

THE FOREST TRAIN Avondale House and Forest Park 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets, which must be booked online at www.theforesttrain.ie cost €15 for children, €10 for adults and €5 for babies (0-12 months).

CHRISTMAS ISLAND Hidden Valley Holiday Park 11 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. Tickets, which must be booked in advance at www.christmasisland.ie, cost €15 per child and €12 per adult. VISIT SANTA Killruddery House and Gardens 12 noon to 6 p.m. Join Mrs Claus around a large log fire for some treats and Christmas stories before visiting the man himself. Tickets can be booked online at www.killruddery.com. Cost: children - €20; adults (over 12) - €8; infants (under one) - €8. CHRISTMAS TASTES, THEMES AND TOURS Russborough House 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

CHRISTMAS WHIST DRIVE Donoughmore Hall 8.30 p.m. This promises to be a great night with lots of brilliant prizes and a super raffle.
