Greetings from Fr. Enda: This week I will return to Holy Redeemer Parish after a period of sabbatical leave. I returned early from Chile and am presently involved in a short course of studies. I look forward very much to meeting you all this weekend as we prepare for Christmas. Fr.Enda.

The Parish Christmas Carol Concert: Takes place on Saturday 20th December at 7.45pm. You are invited to bring a gift to be placed under the Christmas tree which will be distribute­d by the Women’s Refuge Centre and the local St. Vincent de Paul conference of St. Clare.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul Diocesan Church Collection: Takes place this weekend. This will replace the Share collection. A good response to the collection is needed more than ever this year.

QOP YOUTH CLUB

The Queen of Peace adventure Youth Club Christmas Party will be on Friday next. The club will be closed untilafter the festive holiday. During the break the committee will meet to review aproposed programme for next year. This will be presented to the members at thefirst club session in January when items may be added on or deleted. Thecommitt­ee aim to eliminate the waiting list in the New Year.

DIVING CLUB

Bray Divers had a super divingtrip at Lough Derg and Portroe slate quarry. The weather was incredibly good,and the quarry water was completely clear down to fifteen metres. Deepest divewas 26 metres. Divers included were Ann, Tracey, Brendan, Jack, Louis, and Albert.This was the first time that Tracey and Louis had dives at this venue, and theylook forward with enthusiasm to a return visit.

CUALANN SOCIETY

Members of the Bray Cualann Historical Society, the local history society for Bray and North Wicklow, are invited to attend tomorrow night’s meeting of the Enniskerry History Society at 8.30pm in the Powerscour­t Arms Hotel, at which James Scannell will present his lecture ‘ Christmas 1914 in Co. Wicklow ‘. All welcome to attend– admission €3.

On Friday December 19th , James Scannell, Vice-Chairman and PRO of the Bray Cualann Historical Society will present a special lecture ‘ Christmas in Bray 100 Years Ago (1914) ‘ at 11.30am in Bray Library, Eglinton Road, Bray. Admission free–all welcome. This is the final lecture in the Society’s 2014 programme of lectures.
