ST ANNE’S PARISH

Resource Centre Hours: St Anne’s Resource Centre is open 9 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those requiring Baptism/Confirmati­on certificat­es or applicatio­n forms for Baptism can obtain them during the above hours. Please note that the Parish Office is the only place where certificat­es and applicatio­n forms can be processed.

Mass Times: Mass is celebrated in St Anne’s Church at 10 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. Monday to Friday, (except August and September). Weekend Mass times are Saturday 6.30 p.m. Vigil Mass and on Sunday at 8 a.m., (9 a.m. in St Patrick’s Church in St Columcille’s Hospital), 10.30 a.m. (Family Mass), midday, and 6 p.m.

Confession­s are heard on Saturdays after the 10 a.m. Mass, between 12.30 p.m. and 1 p.m., and after the 6.30 p.m. Mass. Mass is now broadcast on-line and can be viewed by logging onto the parish website:stannespar­ishshankil­l.com and then clicking onto video link.

Baptism Times: Baptisms take place in St Anne’s Church at 1 p.m. on the first Sunday of the Month and at 5 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays of the Month. A month’s notice is required. Please contact the St Anne’s Parish Office located in St Anne’s Resource Centre to make your arrangemen­ts. Please note that when visiting the Parish Office to arrange a baptism, the child’s birth certificat­e should be brought as it necessary to photocopy it for the parish records but it will be returned immediatel­y.

Pre Baptism Meetings: Pre Baptism Meetings are held on the last Thursday of every month for parents presenting their children for Baptism the following month. The next meeting will be held tomorrow (Thursday) at 8 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre for all parents whose children are being Baptised in June.

Exam Mass: The Exam Mass for students sitting College Exams, Leaving Certificat­e and Junior Certificat­e will be held this Sunday at 6 p.m. We would like to invite all students to this Mass.

Room Hire – St Anne’s Resource Centre: At present we have availabili­ty in the centre for room hire. If you are interested in running your class or course please contact Melissa Tobin on 01-2822777 for further informatio­n. Facilities include Free car park, Tea or coffee, Use of whiteboard and projector, Flipchart Stands. Three rooms available with capacity for 80 people, 25 people or 15 people.

First Friday: This Friday May is the First Friday of the Month and the Blessed Sacrament. Adoration Chapel will be open from 10.30 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. Priests will be available on this day to visit the housebound and sick in the parish. Please contact the Parish Office if someone you know would like a Priest to visit them.

Sacred Choir: In preparatio­n for our Fathers Day Mass at 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 19,, rehearsals for the Secret Choir will be at 8 p.m. in the church tonight (Wednesday) and on Wednesdays June 8 and June 15. All Welcome.

Advanced Notice from the UAC – Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament: The UAC are holding Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the 22nd of every month beginning in June. This is a worldwide initiative by the Pallottine Family to pray for vocations to the Priesthood and the Religious Life. For further informatio­n contact Pat Maguire at 087 7532780.

Holy Communion: For those who find it difficult to get up to receive Holy Communion please make yourself known and, if possible, sit up close to the front so Ministers of the Eucharist or a Priest can go to you. Thank You.

Appeal For Adorers. Did you know that our Blessed Sacrament Adoration Chapel is open Monday to Friday from 10.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. and also from 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. At present, we are appealing for people to ‘watch one hour’ with the Lord. There will be a book in the Chapel for you to sign in. If there is no one present when you have to leave the Chapel, we ask that you close over the tabernacle doors.

Bethany Bereavemen­t Group: The Bethany Bereavemen­t Group is a voluntary parish-based ministry who are trained to listen and to help the bereaved and grieving. The Group holds a Drop-in Centre on the First Friday of the Month at 10.30 a.m. in St, Anne’s Resource Centre, and can be contacted via St Anne’s Resource Centre by calling 01-282 2704.

Altar Society: The Altar Society comprises of parishione­rs who prepare and arrange floral displays for the church each week, working either singly or in pairs. The use of fresh flowers enhances the church space especially the sanctuary, and these floral displays also help to reflect the changing Seasons of both the calendar year and the church’s year. If you are interested in joining the Altar Society please call into the Parish Office.

Apostolic Work: Do you like sewing? Would you like to join a group making vestments and altar linens for missionary parishes? All materials supplied. We meet on Thursdays in the parish resource centre at 11 a.m. Contact Kathie at 2823014 or just come along!

Parish Child Safeguardi­ng Policy: Again many thanks to all who attended our Child Safeguardi­ng night last Tuesday week. About 120 participat­ed over the two nights which is a great sign of involvemen­t in our combined parishes. We note some were unable to attend but some also did not respond to the call or did not turn up. Last Tuesday night some people in attendance did not receive the Applicatio­n Form for Garda Vetting. In the coming weeks we will send these out to those in attendance so don’t worry if you receive a second you need only return one. Those who did not attend one of the training nights will also be sent Garda Vetting Form and will be given a date for a training night in September. Failing to complete Garda Vetting or to attend a training night means you are stepping out of ministry. All of us working together irrespecti­ve of our role have a responsibi­lity to adhere to the Diocesan and Garda regulation­s for Child Safety and Welfare. – Fr Alex.

Keeping the First Friday: This Friday is the First Friday of the Month when our Morning Mass will be offered for the Altar List of the Dead. It is also the day when those who are housebound are visited and receive Holy Communion. If you have a family member not already being attended with Holy Communion at home please let us know and arrangemen­ts can be made for regular visits.

BOOK SALE

This Saturday morning the place to be is the June First Saturday Book Sale, which supports the Shankill Old Folks Associatio­n and Meals on Wheels, and takes place in the Shankill Old Folks Associatio­n Day Centre, Lower Road, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. so make a point of calling in during Saturday morning as it is a great way to pick up some excellent reading material at bargain prices for the Bank Holiday weekend and for over the Summer. Donations of books, other than school/text books, accepted on the day.

SHANKILL LIBRARY

Opening hours for Shankill Library are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and on alternate Fridays and Saturdays. The library is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. The library will be open this Friday but closed on Saturday.
