It is never easy to write the obituary of a person from the community but then it makes it more difficult when the person happens to be a loyal and treasured friend. May Battle, Main Street, Rathdrum passed away last week after a long illness with Alzheimers for almost eight years.

For the past four years she was in the excellent care of St Colman’s Residential Care Centre with the constant support of her husband Tony. Tony’s commitment and devotion to May was most admirable. Even when her mind was slipping away he endeavoured in keeping communicating with her by telling her all the local news or perhaps singing her favourite song.
