TABLE QUIZ

Many thanks to the parents’ associatio­n who organised a table quiz on Thursday, May 19, to fundraise for the school. The quiz was a tremendous success and raised over €1,000 for the school funds.

ENTERPRISE SUCCESS

Further entreprene­urial success for Luke Byrne at the end of what has been a fantastic year for him. Last week, the icing on the cake came for Luke when he was acknowledg­ed by the members of Greystones Municipal District by being awarded as one of the People of the Year 2016, and also by Dragons Den star Gavin Duffy and Bank of Ireland at their recent enterprise town initiative.

PARENTS COUNCIL

The Parents Council would like to express their gratitude to all students and parents of the school for their continued support in all of the fundraisin­g events. Lots of areas in the school have and will continue to benefit from these events.

To date, the Parents Council have been in a position to purchase new computers, Apple TVs, chairs for classrooms and plaques for inside and outside the school building. They also help with contributi­on to the Homework Club, the TY Peer Mentors Christmas outing is paid for in full, they help with general maintenanc­e of the school area and also donate to sporting and musical events.

Many thanks to the Parents Council who work tirelessly for the support and benefits of all students in the school.

GRADUATION

On Thursday evening, May 26, sixth year students bid an emotional farewell to Coláiste Chraobh Abhann at their final graduation ceremony. There were be speeches from students and staff and a series of songs sung by the students. Ms Smith, Year Head, awarded the ‘Rogha na Bliana’ award to the most outstandin­g boy and girl of the year, who were Niamh Short and Darren Gillespie. Jade Davies and Aaron Healy were presented with the ‘Gradam Speisialta’ award from Mr Eivers.

TY EXHIBITION NIGHT

Staff, students and parents attended an exciting and varied evening on Tuesday, May 31, at the TY exhibition evening. This evening affords parents the opportunit­y to really appreciate the personal developmen­t and teamwork that marks out TY as such an important year for many students. There were exhibits covering entreprene­urship, music, drama, art and many more.

STATE EXAMINATIO­NS

We wish our Junior and Leaving Certificat­e students the best of luck in the upcoming state exams next week.

SUMMER CLOSURE

We would like to wish everyone a happy and relaxed summer. We look forward to welcoming students to the autumn term in August.
