Many thanks to the par­ents’ as­so­ci­a­tion who or­gan­ised a ta­ble quiz on Thurs­day, May 19, to fundraise for the school. The quiz was a tremen­dous suc­cess and raised over €1,000 for the school funds.


Many thanks to Kil­coole Thrift Shop for their gen­er­ous do­na­tion of €500 to the school to sup­port the ac­tiv­i­ties of the par­ents’ as­so­ci­a­tion.


Fur­ther en­tre­pre­neur­ial suc­cess for Luke Byrne at the end of what has been a fan­tas­tic year for him. Last week, the ic­ing on the cake came for Luke when he was ac­knowl­edged by the mem­bers of Grey­stones Mu­nic­i­pal Dis­trict by be­ing awarded as one of the Peo­ple of the Year 2016, and also by Dragons Den star Gavin Duffy and Bank of Ire­land at their re­cent en­ter­prise town ini­tia­tive.


The Par­ents Coun­cil would like to ex­press their grat­i­tude to all stu­dents and par­ents of the school for their con­tin­ued sup­port in all of the fundrais­ing events. Lots of ar­eas in the school have and will con­tinue to ben­e­fit from these events.

To date, the Par­ents Coun­cil have been in a po­si­tion to pur­chase new com­put­ers, Ap­ple TVs, chairs for class­rooms and plaques for in­side and out­side the school build­ing. They also help with con­tri­bu­tion to the Home­work Club, the TY Peer Men­tors Christ­mas out­ing is paid for in full, they help with gen­eral main­te­nance of the school area and also do­nate to sport­ing and mu­si­cal events.

Many thanks to the Par­ents Coun­cil who work tire­lessly for the sup­port and ben­e­fits of all stu­dents in the school.


On Thurs­day evening, May 26, sixth year stu­dents bid an emo­tional farewell to Coláiste Chraobh Ab­hann at their fi­nal grad­u­a­tion cer­e­mony. There were be speeches from stu­dents and staff and a se­ries of songs sung by the stu­dents. Ms Smith, Year Head, awarded the ‘Rogha na Bliana’ award to the most out­stand­ing boy and girl of the year, who were Ni­amh Short and Dar­ren Gille­spie. Jade Davies and Aaron Healy were pre­sented with the ‘Gradam Speisialta’ award from Mr Eivers.


Staff, stu­dents and par­ents at­tended an ex­cit­ing and var­ied evening on Tues­day, May 31, at the TY ex­hi­bi­tion evening. This evening af­fords par­ents the op­por­tu­nity to re­ally ap­pre­ci­ate the per­sonal de­vel­op­ment and team­work that marks out TY as such an im­por­tant year for many stu­dents. There were ex­hibits cov­er­ing en­trepreneur­ship, mu­sic, drama, art and many more.


We wish our Ju­nior and Leav­ing Cer­tifi­cate stu­dents the best of luck in the up­com­ing state ex­ams next week.


We would like to wish ev­ery­one a happy and re­laxed sum­mer. We look for­ward to wel­com­ing stu­dents to the au­tumn term in Au­gust.
