AUGHRIM

On Saturday, June 4, the an­nual Run the Rock chal­lenge took place. The sun shone and the crowds came out to par­tic­i­pate and sup­port this club event.

This mas­sive event is grow­ing from strength to strength as each year passes. This is our fourth year and the club would like to thank all spon­sors and vol­un­teers for mak­ing this such an en­joy­able day and to James O’Toole for pro­vid­ing the en­ter­tain­ment for the after party. A big thank you to all the play­ers and mem­bers who par­tic­i­pated in the run and those who were stew­ards or helped out in any way on the day.

On the day the juvenile mem­bers and mem­bers of Luke O’Toole’s with the camogie club took part in the 3.5km run and well done to all in­volved.

Any­one with spon­sor­ship cards please re­turn as soon as pos­si­ble thanks. Training con­tin­ues Tues­days and Fri­days at 8pm from now on. Match on Thurs­day, see fix­tures for de­tails.

KIL­TE­GAN

Our Se­nior foot­ball team had mixed for­tunes in the county foot­ball league on Tuesday and Fri­day evenings at home to Avon­dale and Balt­in­glass on Tuesday evening.

We de­feated Avon­dale by 0-13 to 1-06 after be­ing be­hind at half-time by 0-04 to 1-04. We put in a great sec­ond half per­for­mance with ev­ery player giv­ing their all to close out the game on Avon­dale by a four-point mar­gin. Our scores came from Seanie Fur­long (0-05), Mikey Fo­ley and Geoffrey Ber­ming­ham (0-02 each) and one each from Shane Len­non, Padraig Keogh, Rory Finn, and PJ Daly.

Our club wel­comed home Al­lis­ter ‘Boots’ Hand­bidge home from Aus­tralia and he played a stormer in the goals.

On Fri­day evening we played our near neigh­bours Balt­in­glass in the same league and lost the game by a one-point mar­gin after a very tense and in­ter­est­ing game. The fi­nal score was 1-11 to 1-12.

We were forced to play with­out two of our key player, Rory Finn and Blaine Har­mon, but all play­ers put in a great per­for­mance on the night.

Our scores came from Geoffrey Ber­ming­ham (1-01), Seanie Fur­long (0-05), An­thony Fur­long (003), Mikey Fo­ley and Shane Len­non a point each.

Our Ju­nior hurlers had an­other good win in the Ju­nior hurl­ing league on Wed­nes­day evening, this time beat­ing Barn­dar­rig at home on a score line of 4-10 to 0-08. We were al­ways in con­trol of this game and were ahead by 1-08 to 0-05 at half-time. We put in a strong sec­ond half per­for­mance and went on to win the game.

Our scores came from Eoin Coogan (2-00), James Whe­lan (1-02), Padraig Byrne (1-01), JJ Phe­lan (0-05), and Steven Coogan and Kevin Byrne (0-01 each).

Our Ju­nior foot­ball team re­ceived a walk-over from Strat­ford/Grange­con on Thurs­day evening in the west Ju­nior foot­ball league which leaves us still at the top of the ta­ble of the league.

Lotto - win­ning num­bers were 25, 36, 29, and 30. No jack­pot win­ner. He­len Far­rell matched three num­bers. Next week’s jack­pot is for €3400.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to Jack O’Toole (hurl­ing) and Laura Ka­vanagh (camogie) who were both se­lected to play Wick­low hurl­ing and camogie on June 16 in Nowlan Park.

Well done to Tal­bot­sown school who wel­comed Michael Ó Muirc­heartaigh and Dublin foot­baller Jack McCaffrey as guests of hon­our at the school on Tuesday where a trib­ute was paid to Peter Keogh, who was a former pupil of the school and couched many hurl­ing teams from the school over the years. A per­ma­nent plaque was un­veiled in the cor­ri­dor of the school in his hon­our in the pres­ence of his fam­ily and friends.

Jack McCaffrey also made a spe­cial pre­sen­ta­tion to Jack O’Toole who was sec­ond over­all in Europe in the Young In­ven­tor of the Year com­pe­ti­tion. We con­grat­u­late him. Jack McCaf­ferty was also kind enough to play a match with the se­nior boys and girls on the day also.

HOLLYWOOD

Se­nior Team - Bray 3-04, Bless­ing­ton 2-15. Bless­ing­ton had a very good win away to Bray on Tuesday night. Con­di­tions and the weather made for a very fast and open game of foot­ball. The team pro­duced an ex­cel­lent first half per­for­mance, with the scores stand­ing at 2-09 to 1-02 at the break.

The sec­ond half was not as fluid, with both teams hav­ing pe­ri­ods of dom­i­nance. This re­sult will give the Se­nior team much con­fi­dence as they head into the sum­mer.

John West Féile na nÓg is a Club fes­ti­val for Gaelic foot­ball and Ladies Gaelic foot­ball at Un­der-14 level, in­volv­ing teams from across the As­so­ci­a­tion and will be held in Kerry, West Lim­er­ick and West Cork on the week­end of June 24 to 26.

The club have or­gan­ised a fundrais­ing col­lec­tion of re­cy­cled cloth­ing with Lib­erty Re­cy­cling in aid of our two Un­der-14 Féile teams. We will re­ceive €4 for ev­ery 8kg bag of re­cy­cled cloth­ing re­ceived. Green plas­tic bags are avail­able from the club­house. They can con­tain clean clothes, tow­els, blan­kets, cur­tains, bed linen, shoes, bags, hats and hand­bags, and ex­tra plas­tic bags can be used if you have ex­tra. So get col­lect­ing and re­turn to the club­house be­fore the col­lec­tion day on the 18th June!

Con­grat­u­la­tions to Se­nior Player Clodagh Fox who at­tended the Lidl Ire­land Teams of the League in as­so­ci­a­tion with the Ir­ish Daily Star in Croke Park to re­ceive her award for been se­lected on the NFL Di­vi­sion 4 Team of the Year on Thurs­day evening. You’ve done the club proud!

The weather was ideal for good hurl­ing this on Tuesday evening at St Pats NS. Danny Bouch­ier had the pitch in good or­der for our Un­der-8s who were put through their paces. Our play­ers of the week were Un­der-7 Ben O’Leary and Un­der-8 Ge­orge Con­nors - well done boys!

One of our club mem­bers, Lyn­d­sey Ka­vanagh, is or­gan­is­ing a fundrais­ing kids disco on June 11, which will be held in the Venue Night­club at the Grand Ho­tel Wick­low. The event will take place from 5-7pm and will be fully su­per­vised. This event is for over fives and un­der 12s. All pro­ceeds will go to Cancer Re­search, tick­ets are €5 each and can be pur­chased at re­cep­tion in the Grand Ho­tel.

TI­NA­HELY

Se­nior foot­ball - Our league match against Bray Em­mets was post­poned un­til this Sun­day, June 12, at 11am. This game takes place in Ti­na­hely so please come along and sup­port. Training is on Fri­day at 8pm. All play­ers are asked to at­tend.

Ju­nior foot­ball - Our Ju­nior team were away to AGB on Thurs­day evening in the league but un­for­tu­nately they didn’t come away with points. AGB win this game 2-10 to 1-10. Up this week is a home match at 7.30pm against Avoca. All play­ers be present at 6.45pm.

Well done to An­thony Mur­phy and his crew for or­gan­is­ing a very suc­cess­ful fundraiser in Black Toms last Saturday night. The fundraiser was called ‘The Cube’. Thanks to all who par­tic­i­pated and thanks to Black Toms for their hos­pi­tal­ity.

GAA acad­emy is on at 10.30 ev­ery Saturday morn­ing in the GAA field, all boys and girls un­der six are wel­come.

Un­der-8 boys foot­ball is on ev­ery Tuesday evening at 6pm in the Ti­na­hely GAA pitch. All boys are wel­come to at­tend.
