Tourism ini­tia­tive high­lighted at AGM

OVER 70 peo­ple showed up to the 2016 AGM of Wick­low County Tourism, which took place at the Brook­lodge and Ma­cred­din Vil­lage last Wed­nes­day evening, June 15.

Chair­man Noel Keyes wel­comed all of those present, who heard from guest speaker Michelle MacMa­hon, a Dig­i­tal and So­cial Me­dia Man­ager at Fleish­man Hil­lard Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Agency, which has re­cently been ap­pointed to spear­head Wick­low County Tourism’s new tourism ini­tia­tive.

Ms MacMa­hon in­tro­duced some ex­cit­ing new cam­paign in­ti­ta­tives, in­clud­ing #WakeUpInWick­low and #MyWick­low to at­ten­dees, all of whom of­fered their sup­port to help make the ini­tia­tive a great suc­cess in the com­ing months.

Ms MacMa­hon said that plans are cur­rently be­ing put in place to in­vite jour­nal­ists and me­dia to come, ex­pe­ri­ence Wick­low and write about it, while she also em­pha­sised the im­por­tance of so­cial me­dia chan­nels, which have a global reach.

Chair­man Noel Keyes said that Wick­low County Tourism is in­vest­ing heav­ily in this cam­paign, which was the first of its kind for the county, and em­pha­sised the im­por­tance for the lo­cal tourism trade to em­brace it.

‘Start us­ing the hash­tags, send prizes and itin­er­ar­ies to help the agency reach as wide an au­di­ence as pos­si­ble,’ he en­cour­aged those present. ‘ This cam­paign will make a dif­fer­ence to tourism in this county.’
