Tourism initiative highlighted at AGM
OVER 70 people showed up to the 2016 AGM of Wicklow County Tourism, which took place at the Brooklodge and Macreddin Village last Wednesday evening, June 15.
Chairman Noel Keyes welcomed all of those present, who heard from guest speaker Michelle MacMahon, a Digital and Social Media Manager at Fleishman Hillard Communications Agency, which has recently been appointed to spearhead Wicklow County Tourism’s new tourism initiative.
Ms MacMahon introduced some exciting new campaign intitatives, including #WakeUpInWicklow and #MyWicklow to attendees, all of whom offered their support to help make the initiative a great success in the coming months.
Ms MacMahon said that plans are currently being put in place to invite journalists and media to come, experience Wicklow and write about it, while she also emphasised the importance of social media channels, which have a global reach.
Chairman Noel Keyes said that Wicklow County Tourism is investing heavily in this campaign, which was the first of its kind for the county, and emphasised the importance for the local tourism trade to embrace it.
‘Start using the hashtags, send prizes and itineraries to help the agency reach as wide an audience as possible,’ he encouraged those present. ‘ This campaign will make a difference to tourism in this county.’
