Ten reservoirs to be inspected for works
MAINTENANCE works will be carried out on ten reservoirs across the Garden County in a collaboration between Irish Water and Wicklow County Council.
Inspections will be carried out at each reservoir to determine their condition and what maintenance works may be required. These works will safeguard the quality of the drinking water and increase the security of the supply.
The reservoirs included in the programme are Coolboy/Coolafany, Hollywood, Kiltegan, Knockananna, Knockanarrigan, Rathdangan, Stratford, Valleymount/Ballyknockan, Barndarrig and Thomastown.
The Knockananna Reservoir is the first reservoir to be included in the programme and work started on Tuesday and will last until tomorrow, Thursday, July 7.
The reservoirs will firstly have to be emptied to accommodate any maintenance works, which may cause interruptions to customers’ water supplies. The works at each reservoir will take between two and five days to complete. Alternative water supplies, through the provision of water tankers, will be provided to customers during the duration of the work. Affected customers will also be written to prior to any works taking place.
Most of the programme should be complete by October, with works on the Hollywood and Valleymount/Ballyknockan reservoirs planned for Spring of 2017. ALI is a one year old, male, terrier mix.
