BLESSING OF THE GRAVES

The Blessing of the Graves will take place on Sunday, July 10, at 3 p.m.

FIELD DAY

The Castletown Parish field day will take place on Sunday, July 31, from 2 p.m. in the school grounds. This event is only as good as the support it gets, it’s our community working for each other, so while there are many other attraction­s on the day, this is OUR day and we hope you choose to support us.

We are looking for donations of home baking. This is always a very popular stall and once again we ask you to help with your own speciality. There is nothing like a bit of ‘home baking’ to set the taste buds wild J This can be brought along on the day.

We are looking for donations of books for our book stall. We can take these in after 11 a.m. Mass or on the day. Good as new items are also welcome, these must be in GREAT condition and fit for sale

We are always looking for volunteers. If you have a few hours to spare on the day or the day before to help us set up, please contact Mick Halpin at 087 6813102.

We have lots of fun, games, raffles, stalls and challenges lined up for the young and young at heart. Enjoy a cuppa and some amazing home baking or something from the barbecue. Search through our sale stalls – new items, good as new and book stall. Win a cake, a hamper, a goldfish or one of the grand prizes in our main draw. Dog show, what beauties will be on show this year? There will be strawberri­es and cream, mini café, ice cream and tuc shop. For FUN – penalty kick, wheel of fortune, races.

The craft fair/indoor market continues on Sunday July 17 at the Orphan Girl, Ballymoney from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tea or coffee and Snacks will be available and there will be lots of parking. For more info and to book a space call 086 3664145.

‘PIG ON A SPIT’ NIGHT

Wexford Surf Lifesaving Club will be holding a Pig on a Spit Night at Gorey Rugby Club on Saturday, July 16. There will be a DJ from 9.30 p.m. till late (over16s only – children welcome till 9.30 p.m.).

Admission is €15 per adult and €5 for children. All money raised on the day will go towards sending the Wexford Water Safety/ Surf Lifesaving team to the World Championsh­ips in Holland in September.

COURTOWN 4K SWIM

The Courtown to Ballymoney 4k Swim takes place on July 24, starting at Courtown RNLI Station swimming north along the coast to the finishing point at Ballymoney North Beach. Starting at 11 a.m., the maximum swim time expected is 2.5 hours. All money raised on the day will go towards sending the Wexford Water Safety/Surf Lifesaving team to the World Championsh­ips in Holland in September. The committee are appealing for all the help they can get for litter picking, as June and July are the important Months when the judges are visiting to assess the marks, so please give a few minutes of your time to help out, they Fás workers have been doing a great job with the flowers around the local signs with the flower beds.

POSITIVE AGEING

The Arklow Positive Ageing Group are running a Bus to the Curragh Races on July 16 for the Irish Oaks Day. Bus will leave the Tesco car park at 12.30 p.m. for the Races, with the cost of €20. If you are interested in travelling, contact Gertie at 086 0817534.

SCHOOLS CLOSED

We would like to wish all the primary school students a very happy and relaxed two months of Holidays, now that all the schools are closed till September.

GYMKHANA

St Mogue’s Community Childcare in Inch are holding summer camps for 4-8-year-olds from July 4 to July 8, July 11 to July 15. July 18 to July 22 or July 25 to July 25 to July 29 from 10 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. Cost is €60 per child. Activities will include indoor and outdoor games, themed activities, baking, weaving, junk couture and many more.

THURSDAY WALKERS

Walkers will head South to Aughrim this Thursday to take on the Seán Lenihan Memorial Walk with it’s many features and splendid scenery and the possibilit­y of some tasty refreshmen­ts at the end. The trip to Brockagh last week was most enjoyable and the threat of showers did not affect the participan­ts. Meeting in Parnell Memorial Park 7 p.m. and Aughrim 7.20 p.m.

CEMETERY MASS

The annual Cemetery Mass in Greenane will take place next Sunday, July 10, at 3 p.m. Participan­ts are requested to follow the directions of the stewards in order to avoid traffic problems and keep public roads clear. Donation Boxes will be available for anyone wishing to donate to the up-keep of St Columba’s Church.
