THE Groove Festival have drawn to a close but the fans will be singing its praises for a long time.

The Hop House 13 stage was a new addition to and big success of this year’s Groove Festival, with a series of fantastic acts performing sets over the course of the two days.

The highlight of that particular stage had to be David Kitt. The Irish singer-songwriter closed the show at the second stage on Saturday evening, before The Blades followed Dublin heroes Aslan on the main stage.

Ocean Colour Scene closed Groove 2016 on Sunday night, with the largest crowd of the weekend gathering to see the iconic Britpop band rock Bray.

The great thing about Groove is how child-friendly it is. Babies, toddlers and older children quite safely partied away and showed the adults at Killruddery how to dance like nobody’s watching.

There was plenty for children to do in between music acts, with a Wonderland Theatre Company play, climbing wall and aqua-sphering, the Sing Factory, exploration dome and face painting.

Celebrities Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie turned up on Saturday while on a day off from filming. Otherwise known as Kat and Alfie Slater, the on-screen couple enjoyed watching Aslan and met the band after their gig.

The atmosphere was lovely and relaxed, with a good selection of suppliers offering food and drink.

Other acts to grace the two stages over last weekend included Rebel Rebel, TooFools, Jupe, Swords, and the Neville Staple Band.

The Academic and the Dave McHugh Band played the main stage on Sunday, with Anderson, Barq and Gangsters on the Hop House Stage.

The festival included Zaska, The Young Folk, The 4 of Us, Planet Parade and Mockler Sisters, as well as Sample Answer and Elm.

This was the fourth year of Groove, with the festival becoming a vital part of the summer timetable in Bray.
