WELCOME BACK

Welcome back to all staff and students for the new academic year. We hope everyone enjoyed the summer holidays and look forward to another successful year in the school.

COLLEGE DESTINATIONS

Congratulations to our 2016 Leaving Certificate students who secured places in a wide variety of third level institutions. Our graduates will be pursuing courses in a range of disciplines, including law, arts, science, commerce, computers and many more. We wish them the very best in their studies and their future careers.

IPAD INITIATIVE

First year students have recently received their new iPads and are currently becoming accustomed to using them in the classroom. This is an exciting venture for both the school and the students, continuing on from the success last year. It is hoped that this new initiative will help in the promotion and development of self-directed learning, with access to online teaching and learning resources including the many educational apps, while at the same time reducing the weight of students’ schoolbags.

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

A full list of extra-curricular activi- ties is currently being compiled will be available next week for students. All students are encouraged to get involved in the wide variety of activities that are on offer, including drama, camogie, soccer and Gaelic football.

1ST YEAR PARENTS INFO

We look forward to welcoming the parents of our new First Year students to a special information evening on Thursday, September 15, at 8 p.m. We reserve this night especially for parents of our First Years, who have achieved so much in integrating into the culture of secondary school so well.

Parents are encouraged to come along on the night with any questions or uncertainties they might have, and we will ensure that everyone is given the information, help and advice they need. Discussions will include study, nutrition, school involvement, extra-curricular activities and many more areas. We look forward to meeting our new parents on this evening.
