Victorian field day to be a doggie’s delight

-

THIS weekend’s Enniskerry Victorian Field Day will not only delight humans but also has plenty to offer our four-legged friends. This year’s field day, which takes place this Sunday, September 11, will feature a wonderful dog show, organised by Wonder Paws Pet Dog Training at Festina Lente Bray.

A full schedule of show classes will run from noon to 4 p.m. including cutest puppy, sassy senior, biggest smile, best bark, best biscuit catch, waggiest tail, best costume couple (dog and handler), most obedient and best in show. The entry fee is €3 per dog or two for €5. Registration will be taken on the day.

In addition to that, pampered pooches can expect a full-on grooming experience at a special salon on site. Expert dog training, vet, nutrition, weight and dog adoption advice will also be available. The special doggy area also welcomes all breeds, shapes and sizes to try out and enjoy the fun agility course.

This year’s event will have demonstrations by Irish Dogs for the Disabled who will show off the amazing skills that they perform for their wheelchair-based partners, such as helping with undressing, retrieving dropped items, putting litter in the bin and opening cupboards to get specific items.

The 2016 Enniskerry Victorian Field Day takes place at Knocklinn Farm, Ballyman Road in Enniskerry this coming sunday. Gates will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The entry fee is €5 per adult and kids go free. Proceeds of the field day are in aid of Lakers and the local parishes.
