SPONSORED WALK

The annual sponsored 10K walk/run/sports activity day is taking place today, Wednesday, October 5. All students and staff will participate in this event and it is also hoped that many parents and members of the local community will join us on the day. The students will follow two different routes. Third and fourth year students will do the coastal walk to Greystones, while first and second year students will do the coastal walk towards Newcastle.

The 10km run is open to fifth and sixth year students, who also have the option of taking part in a sports activity day in the school. As part of the event, students are being asked to raise a minimum of €10 sponsorship from family and friends.

OPEN NIGHT 2016

Many thanks to all members of our school community who participated and helped out for Open Night recently. The school welcomed pupils from all of our feeder schools to sample the subjects and see the facilities that are on offer here. The night concluded with the debut performance of the Transition Year Ukulele Group along with all the music students in a rendition of ‘You Are My Sunshine’ and ‘Riptide’. Well done to all involved.

TRANSITION YEAR

Transition Year students have recently participated in a new Irish day course and team building exercise. The ‘Moontour’ course is newly established and operates from Dun Laoghaire Motor Yacht Club. During the day, the students went kayaking in the harbour, composed a photo story, relaxed with some yoga and competed in a Jenga tournament, all through the medium of Irish. The students thoroughly enjoyed the day and had the chance to use their ‘cúpla focal’.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Best wishes to all our Transition Year students who will be taking part in two weeks’ work experience from Monday, October 17. We wish them well and hope they gain some insightful experience into the world of work.
