BASKETBALL

Our senior (under-19) basketball team have got off to a flying start in the inter-schools basketball league with two wins out of two. The first was a convincing 49-25 win over local rivals St Davi’s’s, Greystones with Alex Vortolonei finishing the game as top scorer. The second was a closer 32-27 win against St Killian’s Community School in a very tight game. Well done to all the squad and to Mr Fitzpatrick, the under-19 coach. Our next match is against Clonkeen College.

SOCCER

Our senior (under-19) soccer team have also made a promising start to the season with two great displays in their warm-up matches and a decisive win in their first competitive match.

A 2-2 draw against Coláiste Cill Mhantain and a 5-2 win against St Benildu’s College was followed by an 8-4 win against Colaiste Craobh Abhann in the opening match of the league. Scorers for Woodbrook were David Rohlik (3), Adam Rohlik (2), Alex Vortolomei (2) and Ian Kirwan (1). The team were 3-0 down after 25 minutes but managed to turn the game around with a brilliant second half display. Man of the match was Adam Rohlik.

Our under-15 team put in an excellent performance in their first match of the season against Clonkeen College with a mix of skilful passing combinations and tough defending when needed. Woodbrook ran out two 0 winners on the day which sets the team up nicely for their first competitive encounter with Arklow CBS in the Leinster Cup. Paulius Rutkauskas was the scorer of both goals for Woodbrook.
