DARTS

A 99% turnout had a great night of darts, craic food and a few drinks at the annual Powerscour­t Arms party hosted by the Hotel. The very competive singles had a late. Finish results will appear next week.

WALKERS

Enniskerry Walkers continue their bi-weekly walks on Saturdays leaving from Windsors Spar opposite Town Clock at 1.30 p.m. All are welcome to take part.

IRISH DANCING

Irish Dancing for young children continues each Saturday in Enniskerry Parish Hall in the Village, beginners welcome.

Powerscour­t Parish Confirmati­on 2017: The Archbishop will confirm candidates from our Rural Deanery area on April 2, 2017. Those who would like to present themselves for confirmati­on from the parish are asked to contact the Rector as soon as possible so that we can give numbers to the Diocesan Office. Preparatio­n will begin in December.

Mothers Union: The October meeting takes place tonight (Wednesday) at 8 p.m. in the Parish Hall at which Ms. Gillian Bird will give a talk on her work with the DSPCA.

ST MARY’S CHURCH

Annual Mass for Deceased: Will take place on Friday, November 11, at 7.30 p.m. in St Mary’s Parish Church for all parishione­rs whose funerals were held in St Mary’s, St Mochonog’s, St Patrick’s, and St Kevin’s churches in the past year. If you would like to add the name of a loved one who died and had their funeral outside the parish please contact the Parish Office.

HISTORY SOCIETY

Until the resumption of lectures by the Enniskerry History Society members are invited to attend tonight’s (Wednesday) 8 p.m. meeting of the Dun Laoghaire Borough Historical Society in the Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire, at which Lar Joy will present his lecture ‘Bombshell and Bullet Holes, stories of 1916’ – admission €3.50; and to tomorrow (Thursday) nights 8 p.m. of the Bray Cualann Historical Society in the Royal Hotel, Bray, at which Lorraine Kennedy-Stephens will present her lecture on ‘Bill Stephens, The Fairview Lion Tamer and his Bray Connection­s.’ Brian White will also present a short talk ‘The History of the Arcadia Ballroom, Bray. All welcome – admission €5.

ENNISKERRY LIBRARY

Opening hours are as follow: Tuesday and Wednesday – 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.; Friday – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday – 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Book Club will be continuing and will meet on the last Wednesday of every month. CHARITY SOCIAL NIGHT

This event which is in aid of Crumlin Children’s Hospital takes place this Thursday, October 20, starting at 7 p.m. in the Mill Room. QUIZ NIGHTS 2016

This year’s Senior Citizens Christmas Party Quiz Nights start on Thursday, October 27, at 8 p.m. in the Mill Room and is sponsored by Byrne’s Pub and Next Door Off Licence.

The second quiz is on Thursday, November 10, and is sponsored by St Patrick’s GAA Club.

The third quiz is on Thursday, November 24, and is sponsored by St Anthony’s FC. Table of four is €20. Your support would be gratefully appreciate­d and is badly needed to provide for the upcoming party.

TAI CHI AND QIGONG

Instructor Neal Traynor will be in Brockagh Resource Centre on Tuesday 25th of October giving a free demonstrat­ion class for anyone interested in knowing the ancient art of Tai Chi and QiGong.

Suitable for any age, it can enhance any profession­al sport injury and repair or can be very helpful if you have postural problems. DRAMA SCHOOL

Drama classes are a fantastic way of developing confidence and encouragin­g creativity and imaginatio­n. Drama modules will incorporat­e improvisat­ion, mime, script work, vocal training and acting skills.

Students will also learn from the Irish Board of Speech and Drama syllabus and be afforded opportunit­ies to take graded examinatio­ns under a fully qualified teacher. Fitness Transforma­tion is glad to announce that Yoga Fitness is back for a new six week term in Newcastle Community Centre, Wicklow starting this Thursday at 7 p.m. Classes are €10 per class or €50 pay up front for six classes.
