Full house for a fun party
THERE was a huge turnout at the Glenview Hotel last Sunday afternoon for a Hallowe’en party in aid of the Greystones South Beach Playground.
As there was such a huge response, they had to stop admitting people after the room reach capacity due to health and safety reasons and organisers apologised to those who were disappointed.
Meanwhile, they raised another €1,200 towards the playground.
Disney characters entertained the children at the event and everyone had fun dressing up in all manner of costumes.
The boys and girls came to the party dresses as monsters, ghouls, characters from film and TV, animals and more.
‘We appreciate everyone’s support and hope everyone had a great day,’ said a spokesperson. ‘It was fantastic to see the children in their amazing costumes.’
The playground works are expected to be completed by summer of next year. Last May, the South Beach Playground committee was formed to fundraise for a complete overhaul of the facility. In particular, the committee aims to make the playground as inclusive as possible, as it is not currently suitable for children with special needs.
They have a target of €150,000 to meet and will be carrying out a huge fundraising drive to get to their target in the coming months.
Committee members have been busy behind the scenes, getting quotes, plans and ideas for the project, and urge the whole community to come together to make sure the works are done for next summer.
