Coláiste Chraobh Abhann will be running the 121 Digital programme in the school and is looking to recruit Retired people and Senior Citizens who may wish to participate in the programme. It offers a course of personalised ‘one-to-one’ lessons by a digital expert (Transition Year volunteers) on courses of a few weeks’ duration.

Learners bring their own device (laptop/tablet/smartphone) and lessons are free – Learners of all ages/stages/abilities/learning speeds (from beginner to intermediate) can attend. Learners start at their own level and advance at their own pace. For more information please contact Stephanie Egan in CCA at 01 2870198 or stephanieegan1@wicklowvec.ie.

TRANSITION YEAR

On Thursday, October 13, the TY Spanish Class took part in a Salsa dance workshop with Louis, the visiting Salsa dance teacher. The lesson lasted two hours during which time the students were taught the basic steps to start them off. By the end of the lesson they were dancing in pairs and were able to move in time to the music with great confidence. After the dancing they took the bus to Greystones to sample some authentic Spanish food in the Las Tapas restaurant. They tried a big variety of dishes including Calamares, Paella and Churros.

UNDER-15 BOYS SOCCER

Well done to the Boys under-15 Soccer team who beat Wexford CBS 3-1 in the first round of the Leinster Cup. Goals from Jamie Murray (2) and Luke O’Callaghan. Man of the match was shared between Blake Ryan and Adam Farrell. Well done to all the team and best of luck in the next round and for the season.

TEACHING CONFERENCE

Well done to Manus De Paor, Rachel Crimes, Aine Gammell and Lachlan Fleming who made a presentation at the recent Feilte Teaching Council Conference. The Youth Leadership Toastmasters workshop which they presented was attended by teachers from all over the country. The students were excellent ambassadors for the school and spoke eloquently about Toastmasters, while also giving a very positive review of their experience in Transition Year.
