‘In response to this, Mark and myself met with the gardaí and decided to hold a meeting to bring the community together to look at options for improving security in the area,’ said Cllr Whitmore. ‘This could include the establishment of a neighbourhood watch scheme and installing CCTV systems. Our local Community Garda will also attend the meeting and will be able to answer questions on the night.’

Mr Barry said: ‘The gardaí have said that Charlesland is a very good candidate for a neighbourhood watch scheme.

‘Such a scheme would be an op- portunity for all of Charlesland to work together to make sure that our homes are safe as possible from burglaries and we have already had a lot of interest from locals that are keen to get involved,’ said Mr Barry.

All are welcome to attend. If you would like further information, email whitmore.jennifer@gmail.com.
