History lecture and AGM

The most recent lecture of the Kilmacanogue History Society took place on Tuesday, December 6, in the Glenview Hotel. This interesting talk, ‘If Those Trees Could Speak’ was given by Frank Tracy who is a well-known local historian and author. In his wonderful presentation, Frank outlined the history of the Massy family of Killakee House in Rathfarnham.

A number of our members and speakers are published authors and many of these had their books for sale on the night. There was keen demand for the many publications on show.

The society will hold its annual general meeting on Wednesday, December 14, in the Glenview Hotel at 8 p.m. We encourage all members to attend this very important meeting, where they can make a positive contribution towards the future of our society.

The next lecture titled ‘From Horses to Horsepower’ will be presented by local historian James Scannell will take place at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, in the Glenview Hotel.

At the end of another successful year, the committee wish to thank their members and all who attended the lectures during the year.
