GOAL MILE Askanagap 10 a.m. to noon Walk or stroll the mile while raising vitals funds in support of GOAL’s work globally. STREETS OF WICKLOW 5K Station Road, Wicklow town From 11 a.m. This annual run, organised by Inbhear Dee Athletic Club, is chip-timed and a great family event with cash prizes and a perpetual cup for the fastest family to cross the line. For the very young, there is a one-mile race at 11 a.m. (entry €3). Online entry is now open. Entry: €15 individual, €8 student and €45 family (two adults and three children). ANNUAL SWIM South Beach, Greystones 11 a.m. The Christmas day dip is a long-standing festive tradition. This year, the Greystones South Beach Playground Committtee is asking people to make a ‘splash for cash’ to raise money for the new playground. For a sponsorship card, email greystonesplayground@gmail.com. LIONS CLUB CHARITY SWIM South Beach/The Cove, Arklow Noon All are welcome to come along and take a dip for a good cause. This annual event, which will take place at either South Beach or The Cove, depending on the weather, is always a festive favourite. ANNUAL WALK Railway car park, Tinahely Noon Tinahely Tri-Club invites everyone to take part in its annual run/walk. The distance is approximately 8km and will be finishing up at the Dying Cow. Changes of clothes can be delivered to the Dying Cow if anyone brings one along. There will be a donation bucket at the start with all money going to a local charity. Runners, joggers and walkers welcome. CHARITY SWIM New Pier, Wicklow town 12.45 p.m. Blow out the cobwebs after the Christmas excess by joining Wicklow Swimming Club for a quick dip while also supporting Wicklow Day Care. ANNUAL RUGBY MATCH Rathdrum RFC 1.30 p.m. The Hound Dogs will be back at the Ivy Grounds for their annual clash with Rathdrum RFC. There will be food and a party in the clubhouse afterwards, where they’ll be tuned into the Leinster V Munster match at 5.30 p.m. All money raised will go to the local cancer charity. CLASH OF THE CLANS Coolboy Community field 2.30 p.m. After the disappointment of being rained off last year, Coolboy and Coolafancy’s best will do battle in the hope of being crowned champions in the Clash of the Clans. CHRISTMAS JUMPER NIGHT Wicklow Brewery, Redcross 10 p.m. Keep the Christmas spirit going by donning a festive jumper and heading down to the Wicklow Brewery, for an entertaining evening with John Hogan Junior.
