MUSICAL‘ANNIE’
Huge congratulations to all involved in the super production of ‘Annie’. Transition year students put on a fabulous show. They performed two matinees on Wednesday and Thursday the 14th and 15th and had full houses on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings. Annie was played by Liadh Cronin, Ms. Hannigan Emily Carey, Warbucks Hannah Murphy, Grace Ellie Dunne, Rooster Blaithin Ward and Lily Zakia Laassri.
The parts were played superbly by the girls and they were supported by all the Transition year students either on stage or back stage. The children from the local National Schools all thoroughly enjoyed the performances.
Much thanks goes to Mr Philip O’Neill who was so dedicated in his role as Musical Director and Anne McIntyre as Choreographer/ Producer. Thanks also to Ms. Goff for her invaluable help with the production as TY Co-ordinator, Ms. Joan Morten as set designer and Thady O’Brien as set constructor. Thanks also to Mr O’Brien, Ms. Maxwell and Mr Cronin for work backstage. It was a fantastic show and a credit to all involved.

MERRYCHRISTMAS
Christmas holidays will begin on Thursday, December 22. We would like to wish all students and their families a very happy Christmas and very best wishes for the new year.
The parents’ association hosted the annual Christmas Decoration Evening on December 15. This is one of the most eagerly-awaited events in the EGS calendar. As always, the event was a huge success, with Cami Austen of Austen Flowers demonstrating how to make a Christmas Garland. Many thanks to all who helped, took part and came along.
EGSBAKEOFFREVIEW
This week and last has seen our TY’s really getting stuck into their new modules. There is a real buzz about the place with Mini Company ideas flying around, lines being learnt in resource areas and stage design in full swing.
In tutorial last week we had Paul Sharkey from Epilepsy Ireland in to talk to the students about the condition and its various forms and effects. Paul is an excellent speaker and really engaged the students with his heartwarming and often numerous stories. All the time highlighting the seriousness of epilepsy and how common it is in Ireland. This Mondays tutorial was every bit as interesting as we had Reptile Haven come down from Dublin with a car load of scary reptilians.
Finally our TY’s are looking forward to their last trip of 2016, ice skating in Dundrum on their last day. It promises to be an exciting spectical.
