History society
The Kilmacanogue History Society have announced a very interesting Series of lectures to bring us up to the summer break. All lectures take place in the Glenview Hotel at 8 p.m., normally the first Tuesday of every month with the exception of the January lecture and all are welcome to attend, especially new members. The schedule is as follows;
Tuesday, January 10, ; From Horse to Horsepower and presented by James Scannell. Tuesday. In his illustrated talk, James will take all present through the period when the horse was replaced by steam engines and motor cars. The presenter James Scannell is a well-known local historian and railway enthusiast is a regular contributor to local history publications.
On February 7 ; Seán Keating: Art, Politics and Building the Irish Nation presented by Dr Eimear O’Connor. Tuesday. March 7: The Brabazon Family History and Killruddery House and Gardens by the Earl of Meath, On
Tuesday. April 4 ;The Irish Famine Roads by Charles Egan and to finish it off, on
